all things considered, vivienne westwood’s fall ready to wear collection was, in a word, restrained. in another word, wearable. among tailored coats and little black dresses, she also showed a gray suit, that was, in yet another word, appropriate. i was surprised by this collection … but not by the nails. the makeup, done by mac, was naturally over the top, with a zombie marie antoinette vibe. the nails resembled long panes of stained glass. i recreated the look using essie’s good as gold and bikini so teeny. start with a fully gold nail, and then add a single wide brush stroke of blue from base to tip, letting the gold remain on the outside.
