“florals? for spring? groundbreaking.” – the devil wears prada

when we think of the resort/cruise season, we tend to think color — ranging from bright or pastel to muted or loud. but for this latest chanel resort show, makeup artist peter phillips capped off the models’ beauty look with a coat of chic black nail polish, chanel’s cult favorite, black satin. it was a marked departure from his last resort shows where the nails were nude, or tinted the palest pink. there were no florals to be found for this collection, seemingly designed for the jet set who has a cricket match in the morning, a date to lounge by the pool in the afternoon, and a soiree to attend at night.
