“there’s nothing more elegant than a certain kind of melancholia,” lagerfeld said of chanel’s spring haute couture show. models walked through a forest in the grand palais with ground-skimming dresses and shoulder-accentuating gowns. on the nails was a muted peachy pink shade called emprise, a color that did not detract from the dramatic feathered makeup and cascading lace fascinators the models sported as they meandered down the runway, through the woods, to karl’s house.
